The man arrested after a shoot-out with law enforcement during a nearly 14-hour standoff Monday was identified by police on Thursday.

50-year-old Robert Mazurek of North Haven was charged with:

* five counts of first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault,
* five counts of criminal attempt to commit assault on police/public safety,
* illegal discharge of a firearm,
* threatening 1st with a firearm,
* first-degree reckless endangerment,
* and second-degree breach of peace.

His charges stem from around 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, when police first responded to a home on Cloudland Road for a report of shots fired.

Officers found spent casings in the driveway and tried to establish a dialogue with Mazurek, who was inside the garage. Police said he was uncooperative and barricaded himself in the home.

Police said Mazurek “fired several rounds outside of his home and at SWAT personnel, some of which returned fire,” police said. He also shot at a SWAT vehicle.

He was taken into custody around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. No one was injured during the incident.

Mazurek was arraigned in court Wednesday and held on a $5 million bond. Police said the case is active and additional charges may be sought.

The New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, Office of the Inspector General and State Police Central District are assisting in the investigation.

The state released bodycam videos of the confrontation, including Mazurek shooting at police from inside his home over the course of two minutes, another of police ordering him to disarm and of him being taken into custody.

The video shows a SWAT team ordering him to put his hands up and walk towards police.
