Acts & Paul's Epistles

SBC Family,

When I was on vacation I got carried away mentally walking through the arguments of Acts and Paul's Epistles. I decided when I returned I would walk you through each book argument. I'm really excited about it. I've been working on these 15 books for 20 years and especially the last three years since I've been teaching these as a course at Chafer Theological Seminary. My hope and prayer is to keep publishing commentaries on each of these books and eventually publish a Pauline Theology of the Church. It was really refreshing to just step back and let my memory work as I tried to think through the books without looking at the text, then go back and review the text by skimming each book, re-reading my outlines, book argument documents, and re-thinking key word, key verse, key theme/idea. I hope it is as helpful to you as it has been for me.

The goal is to know the word. We are very fortunate to have the Bible, but that has not always been the case for believers. Many have been isolated as POW's or never had a Bible translated in their language. That is why we are supposed to hide His word in our hearts (so we may not sin against Him). What we have hidden away in us can never be taken away. What we have not hidden can be taken away. How much have you hidden in your heart? It is a lifelong process. I don't memorize verses. I study and as a result passages get memorized. It's a different approach. I like to learn it all in a context. It makes more sense to me to see it this way. I hope it helps you too. I really can't tell you how the lesson will turn out because I've run through these books in my mind about six times in the last two weeks and every time it comes out slightly different and every time I love it! I just pray I can basically live in my head while I talk to you all tomorrow and recite the big ideas of these books.

Keep praying! Lots of people need prayer. God is faithful! His plan is right on track....The obvious signs of Israel's distress and the church's apostasy make trusting Him a piece of cake. His mercies are new every morning, great is His faithfulness!

Love,
Jeremy
