Five U.S. Secret Service members have been placed on administrative leave following the July 13 assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Among those sidelined are a member of Trump’s protective team and four agents from the Pittsburgh Field Office.

The internal investigation revealed that Thomas Matthew Crooks fired shots from a nearby building, wounding Trump and killing firefighter Corey Comperatore, while two others were injured.

The incident led to the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and raised concerns about the agency’s handling of security threats, including a reported prior warning about an Iran-related threat.

Senator Josh Hawley revealed that a whistleblower claimed agents were discouraged from requesting additional security for the event, Fox News has reported.
