It's important to have a few things before you make your first mead:

Equipment:

Glass Carboy (& Airlock):
Auto-Siphon and Tubing:
Hydrometer:
Star San (Sanitizer):
Scale:
Bottling Capper:
Bench Capper (Optional):
Hand Corker:
Floor Corker (Optional):
Wine Corks:
Bottle Caps:
Bottling Wand:

Traditional Mead Recipe:

3/4 Gallon of Clean Water
2 Pounds of Any Honey
2.5 Grams of Wine Yeast (or Bread Yeast)

Steps to make a mead:

1.) Sanitize everything extremely well!
2.) Mix your ingredients
3.) Take a gravity reading and write it down
4.) Pitch your yeast into the mead and store in a place to start fermenting
Fermentation should take 14 - 20 days
5.) Check your gravity and rack when it's done fermenting
6.) Optional - Stabilize and Backsweeten if you want it sweeter
7.) Bottling time!
