Fatal Crash On Hwy 401 Tilbury Ontario

One person was killed and another suffered critical injuries Friday in a chain reaction multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 that also halted traffic for hours.

Lakeshore OPP and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a multi-vehicle collision around 10:20 a.m. Friday.

Essex County OPP said the crash occurred in the westbound Lanes of Highway 401 between Gracey Side Road and Comber Side Road in Lakeshore.

While officers were investigating that collision, which resulted in a traffic slowdown, police said there was a second crash at 10:38 a.m. involving two tractor-trailers and a pickup truck.

Police said the driver of one tractor-trailer was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The pickup truck driver was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
