Phantom of Chinatown (1940) starring Keye Luke

Introducing Keye Luke as James Lee Wong. After participating in an extensive archaeological expedition in the Mongolian desert, Dr. John Benton (Charles F. Miller) is in San Francisco to hold a presentation of the findings to his colleagues. In the middle of a pictorial lecture on his recent expedition to the Mongolian Desert, Benton, drinks from the water bottle on his lecture table, collapses and dies. His last words "Eternal Fire" are the only clue Chinese detective Jimmy Wong and Captain Street of the police department have to work on. In the tomb, the team found a scroll, telling of a secret Temple of Eternal Fire. The temple is believed to be hiding a previously unknown oil reserve and would be of great financial importance to the Chinese people were it to be discovered. Grant Withers remains in the cast as Police Captain Street and Lotus Long plays Win Len.
