Top diplomat admits EU ‘part of the conflict’ in Ukraine

The EU’s top diplomat called the conflict between Russia and Ukraine ‘a game’ and then revealed that the European Union is one of those players. High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell, speaking at the Quo Vadis Europa conference, ‘accidentally’ said the quiet part out loud and admitted the EU were ‘part of the conflict’ in Ukraine.

‘We have to think about Ukraine, putting ourselves in the game. We are part of the game,’ he said. ‘We are not part of the war, but we are part of the conflict, and the way this conflict will be solved will affect our peace and security.’

Of course, being ‘not part of the war, but part of the conflict’ is convenient when you have to tell Zelensky ‘we love you, but we’re not in love with you’ when the money inevitably runs out.
