Braking has always been a Porsche strong suit, but the air-cooled 911 has an unconventional front wheel hub design. Because of that, the brake rotor and pad replacement process has a few extra steps that are unique to the 911. That said, this job isn't anything difficult, and is still a great money saver to perform at home.

Any juddering or shaking through the steering wheel as you brake is indicative of an issue that'll be solved with a brake rotor and pad replacement. The rotors can warp, and the pads can leave uneven deposits, causing a shaking sensation. Both reduce braking ability, so replacement it the best option.

In this video, Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro's Professional DIYer, replaces the front brake pads and rotors on a Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera.
