Replacing the oil in a 911 3.2 Carrera is similar to other air-cooled 911s, but not much else; the dry sump oiling system makes for the perfect track-capable engine but introduces intricacies not found on the average European engine. The oil acts as a lubricant and a thermal regulator for the engine, working with the air to keep it cool. Those unique factors drive a fairly tight oil change interval or risk sludging up the engine with sticky oil deposits.

Dry sump oiling systems have many advantages. However, they make an oil change on a Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera a bit of a challenge. The system holds twice what the average European water-cooled engine does, thanks to the separate oil tank, though that's not where the challenge lies. Instead, it's checking the oil level once the system is refilled. That's easier said than done. However, have some confidence, as we're here to help.
