JISATSU | INDIE HORROR FULL GAMEPLAY | PC
Plot Summary:
In a quiet, rural Japanese village, there's a legend about an ancient forest that is believed to be cursed. The villagers call it "Jisatsu no Mori" (Suicide Forest), where those who enter with despair in their hearts are never seen again. The legend says that the forest feeds on the sadness and hopelessness of its victims, driving them to end their own lives.
The protagonist, Aiko, is a young journalist who has recently lost her younger sister, Yumi, to suicide. Yumi was found dead in the forest, leaving behind a cryptic note with the words, "It's calling me." Stricken with grief and guilt, Aiko decides to investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding her sister's death, believing that the forest may hold the answers.
Aiko's investigation leads her to discover a series of similar suicides spanning several decades, all with eerie similarities. The victims were all young, troubled individuals who visited the forest after receiving a "calling." Each left behind a note, often incoherent, but alluding to a dark presence in the forest.
As Aiko ventures into the forest, she begins to experience strange occurrences: whispers in the wind, glimpses of shadowy figures, and inexplicable feelings of dread. The deeper she goes, the more the line between reality and nightmare blurs. The forest seems alive, feeding on her own grief and fears, trying to break her spirit.
Aiko eventually uncovers the truth: the forest is haunted by the souls of those who have taken their lives within its bounds. These tormented spirits are bound to the forest, unable to find peace, and are driven by an ancient curse to lure others to share their fate. The curse was born centuries ago when a massacre took place in the forest, with the victims' souls trapped in a cycle of torment.
As Aiko delves deeper, she faces her darkest fears and confronts the spirit of her sister, who reveals that the only way to break the curse is to perform a ritual of atonement. But the ritual requires a willing sacrifice—someone must willingly offer their life to free the trapped souls.
The climax of the story comes when Aiko must decide whether to sacrifice herself to save the souls of the forest and end the curse, or to escape, knowing that the cycle of death will continue.
