I’m thrilled to welcome you to the Worship Mentors Collective video blog! It’s always a joy to connect with those of you who are passionate about leading worship and serving your church family.

Today, I’m excited to shine a spotlight on one of the upcoming sessions at the Global Worship Summit: 'Song Selection and Set List Planning,' led by worship pastor and long-time worship leader Andrew Morris. Whether you’re a worship leader, a pastor, or a member of a worship team, this session is designed with you in mind.

One of the most critical aspects of leading worship is creating a cohesive and impactful set list that aligns with the theme and flow of the service. When worship and the message are in harmony, it deepens the impact of the entire service. However, we must also consider how the songs fit or flow together, what key they are in, and the transition between each song.

Another common challenge is choosing the right songs for worship. How do you select songs that fit the mood and message of the service? Even more importantly, how do you discern what songs the Holy Spirit is leading you to include? It’s not just about picking songs we love; it’s about carefully considering the message the pastor will share and the spiritual takeaway we want the congregation to experience. This level of discernment can really transform the worship experience, increase engagement, and facilitate an encounter with God.

And then there’s the challenge of balancing new and familiar songs. While introducing new songs can be refreshing, too many at once can leave the congregation feeling lost and trying to learn or remember the song, preventing them from fully engaging in worship. It’s all about finding that sweet spot where both new and familiar songs come together to create a worship experience that everyone can participate in meaningfully.

I’m excited to let you know that Andrew Morris, from Victory Church in Grapevine, TX will be addressing these challenges and many more in his session. Andrew brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from leading teams in large and small churches, and his insights will equip you to plan set lists that are not only cohesive and impactful but also spiritually enriching for your congregation.

If you’re ready to take your worship services to the next level in song selection and setlist planning, I encourage you to join us at the Global Worship Summit. Together, we can make our worship practices as powerful as our worship services, creating moments that draw people closer to God.

I look forward to seeing you at the summit. Thank you for your dedication to leading worship with excellence, and may God continue to guide and bless you in your ministry.
