What The Media Wont Show You

Outside of the 2020 AIPAC Policy Conference, protestors gathered in anger and rejection of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict's status quo, and many against Israel's right to even exist. Most media outlets prey on conflict, hatred, violence, and the polarization of peoples or issues, but that's not always what happens at such events.

Sometimes, breakthrough conversations occur where two sides that are supposed to be against one another, realize that they have a lot more in common than they were taught to believe. If Israelis and Palestinians spent a little less time in their echo chambers and had a little less of an appetite for politicized media consumption, maybe they both sides would realize that their liberations are not mutually exclusive.

If the time invested in attacking each other’s identities, experiences and aspirations, was salvaged and spent on building a future for all the collective inhabitants of the land, we would have already resolved the conflict and smashed the status quo. The conflict exists in our minds and is then translated to physical suffering on both sides. The solution must come from first healing our minds and hearts, and then building a civilization as one that works for all.
