U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in California seized $5 million worth of methamphetamine disguised as watermelons last week.

The drugs were discovered at the Otay Mesa Commercial Facility in San Diego when a 29-year-old driver attempted to cross the border from Mexico, claiming to be transporting watermelons.

Upon further inspection, CBP found 4,587 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in 1,220 packages wrapped to resemble watermelons.

The driver was arrested, and the narcotics and vehicle were seized, NBC News has reported.
