The Democratic Republic of Congo is facing one of its worst health crises in recent memory, with over 12,000 reported cases of mpox, a viral infection once known as monkeypox. This outbreak is particularly alarming due to the severity of the strain, known as Clade 1b, which has claimed nearly 550 lives this year alone. And it's not just the DRC—Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and the Central African Republic are also battling new outbreaks.
