Contend for the Faith

What does it mean to earnestly contend for the faith?
Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Contending for the Faith should paramount in every Christian’s life. In a sense you are contending for Jesus Christ. You contend for the principles of the Faith in every aspect of life. You stand for righteousness, true judgment and the tenants of the faith. You are ready willing and able to articulate what and why you believe in the Christian faith.

This applies to politics and public discourse. You make a stand in public for those who stand for Christ. You earnestly contend for the principles and tenants of the faith. You are willing to contend with both non Christians and Christians for the faith. You rebuke and reprove with all longsuffering and doctrine. You also congratulate those who get it right and have shown themselves to be approved in the faith.

The mainstream of Christianity is all about placation and praise without any merit. God is the only one deserving of this. Exhortation and self pity are the rule of the day in modern Christianity.

How to become a new and better you without any sacrifice.

Treating the Almighty God as if He were a vending machine for your own personal welfare.

What we are left with is a sappy sugar sweet cotton candy Christianity without any backbone. Turn the other cheek doormat Christians who are wimpy crybabies, letting the heathen run over them at every turn.

This is why America and the world are coming apart at the seams.
