“One night, where the lightly ash scented air leaked through the cracks of the home, where the dark sky was clouded with ash, it was late August in 2020 during the California wildfires and I had just laid my baby brother to sleep. Having laid him down, I turned my thoughts to music for a bit. I thought about what was happening the past week. And then I thought of hope. From there I began writing into the program the piece which would become “Hope in the Smoke. A piece which attempts to capture my thoughts of that time. I’ve managed to complete half of the piece at night, and the rest in the morning. The inspiration was strong to the point that the individual arrangements of the piece itself were very close to how I imagined it. A rather short piece, less than 2 minutes in length and marked “complete: in less than a day; though I’ll say it does well in presenting the atmosphere of the state of my mind on “Hope, in the smoke”
