Campaign video of ‘Canada’ turns out to be full of other countries

They say ‘home is where the heart is,’ but it seems the hearts of Canadian politicians are not very good at geography.

A campaign video from Canada’s Conservative Party was intended to show off all the wonderful things the country has to offer, but clearly someone in production didn’t get this memo, and the video became a target for ridicule when eagle-eyed viewers began to spot locations that were very much not Canada. Wholesome shots of kids going to school, new homes under construction and a family meal were from Serbia, Slovenia and Italy, while an awe-inspiring Canadian mountainscape was actually Indonesia. A beautiful sunset, captioned ‘we’re home,’ was stock footage of Venezuela.

Don’t worry, Russia wasn’t left out. A shot of fighter jets training and ‘getting ready to defend our home and native land’ turned out to be Russian jets.
OK, we’re calling it now – Canada doesn’t exist, and it was all a marketing ploy to sell us maple syrup.
