Driver Rolls Pickup, Spills Hazardous Chemicals, Driver Flown, LIVINGSTON, August 20, 2024 - At approximately 7:12 pm on August 20, 2024, the driver of a silver 2007 Toyota Tacoma (hauling multiple gallons of muriatic acid and buckets of chlorine tablets) was west-bound on Old Israel Road (about 2 miles off of North Houston St.). According to the driver, he swerved to avoid a motorcycle and lost control of his small pickup and rolled, spilling his contents as he left the pavement to the left and came to rest upside down. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department and Trooper Nick Hatton with the Texas Highway Patrol. The driver, Zachary McClung, 27, of Livingston, was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital where an air medical helicopter landed and flew him to a hospital in the Houston area. McClung allegedly suffered facial injuries from chemicals that he was hauling (for a swimming pool company). With the muriatic acid, chlorine tablets, and other chemicals all over the pavement, volunteer firemen performed a cleanup as all traffic was blocked. McClung is facing a citation for driving with an invalid license. McClung's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing out of Livingston.
