Rebuilding a Bent 1600 single Buggy Tie-Rod

This video shows the re-working of a tie rod that was bent at the spring Amsoil Champ Off-Road race at Antigo, Wisconsin. The track was pretty dusty, Colton could not see well and made contact with one of the Pay loader tires lining the inside of the track. This is .083” wall DOM tubing so banging tires, or hitting anything will bend it fairly easily, but a bent tie rod is much cheaper than a new steering gear box. I will ring out the weld with a cut off wheel, cut new tubing, tack the heim joint insert into the pipe, weld it in using a quartering technique, and then chase the threads to make sure the heim threads in and out easily.
