Tragic death of Kolkata doctor-Dr. Moumita Debnath

The tragic incident involving the Kolkata doctor, Dr. Moumita Debnath, occurred on August 9, 2024, at RG Kar Medical College. Dr. Debnath, a 31-year-old trainee doctor, was found raped and murdered inside the hospital premises. This brutal crime shocked the nation and led to widespread protests, particularly from the medical community.
In response to the crime, a mob vandalized the hospital, further exacerbating the situation. The Supreme Court has since intervened, ordering enhanced security measures at the hospital and instructing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to thoroughly investigate both the crime and the subsequent violence.
