** The Blues of the Good Samaritan: A Lesson in Mercy and Love

** In this video, we dive deep into one of the most profound parables ever told by Jesus—the story of the Good Samaritan. Found in Luke 10:25-37 (WEB), this timeless tale teaches us the true meaning of love, mercy, and what it means to be a neighbor.

The Story:
Jesus shared this parable in response to a lawyer's question: "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" (Luke 10:25, WEB). The lawyer, seeking to justify himself, asked Jesus, "Who is my neighbor?" (Luke 10:29, WEB). Jesus then told the story of a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho, who was attacked by robbers and left for dead. A priest and a Levite, both religious figures, saw the man but passed by on the other side, offering no help. However, a Samaritan, someone considered an outsider and enemy to the Jews, stopped, cared for the man, and ensured his recovery. Jesus asked, "Which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?" (Luke 10:36, WEB). The lawyer replied, "He who showed mercy on him" (Luke 10:37, WEB). Jesus then said, "Go and do likewise" (Luke 10:37, WEB).

Why Jesus Gave This Story:
Jesus told this parable to challenge the conventional views of who qualifies as a "neighbor." In a society deeply divided by ethnic and religious lines, Jesus emphasized that true love and mercy transcend those boundaries. He called His followers to show compassion and kindness to all people, regardless of their background or status. This story is a powerful reminder that our actions toward others reveal the true condition of our hearts.

** Lyrics of the Song:

"The Good Samaritan Blues"

(Verse 1)
A man was walkin’ down from Jerusalem, headin’ to Jericho town,
Didn’t know what was comin’, didn’t hear no sound.
But the robbers they found him, stripped him of his pride,
Left him half dead, broken, and bleeding on the roadside.

(Verse 2)
Now a priest came by, walkin’ tall with his head held high,
Saw the man layin’ there, didn’t even try.
He crossed to the other side, left the poor man alone,
On that dusty road, his heart had turned to stone.

(Verse 3)
Then a Levite passed, eyes turned away from the sight,
Didn’t want no trouble, just kept walkin’ into the night.
Left that man in the dirt, no help, no hand,
On that road to Jericho, he couldn’t understand.

(Chorus)
But then a stranger came, a Samaritan man,
He saw the hurt and pain, and he took a stand.
He was moved with compassion, came right to his side,
Bound up his wounds, didn’t let mercy hide.

(Verse 4)
He poured out oil and wine, healing every scar,
Lifted him up, placed him on his beast of war.
Took him to an inn, said, “Take care of this man,
Whatever more you spend, I’ll pay with my hand.”

(Bridge)
Now Jesus said, “Which of these three,
Was a neighbor to the man, in his time of need?”
The answer was clear, no reason to pretend,
The one who showed mercy, he was the friend.

(Verse 5)
So go and do likewise, don’t turn your face away,
On the road to Jericho, you might save a life today.
Be a neighbor, show mercy, no matter who you find,
On this journey through life, don’t leave love behind.

(Outro)
On that road to Jericho, the truth is clear and bright,
Mercy walks beside us, guiding us in the night.
When the world turns cold, and hearts grow hard as stone,
Be the one who crosses over, don’t leave love alone.

Let your hands be open, let your heart be free,
In the face of suffering, answer the plea.
For in the end, it’s not the path you choose to roam,
But the love you show to others that’ll lead you home.
