Bold Bird Steals Fur From Lazy Dog's Butt For Her Nest

From time to time you will come across a bird that is quite bold in its approach to humans or other animals that might view them as prey. In the case of this video, we have a bird who is bravely hopping up to a dog that is laying on a patio with his raw hide chew toy. We think this dog might be an Australian Shepherd but the coloring isn’t right, so we are just guessing here.

I do love how the dog does not seem to care at all about the invasive little bird sitting on his back and stealing fur. And that bird is just going to town. He grabs some chunks of still attached fur and starts yanking and yanking during the video. This dog does not care. I wonder if he even knows that the bird is sitting back there. How can he not? It seems like something you would feel while you were just staring off into space like this pup is. Maybe he really does not care at all.

Interestingly, birds actually love human hair, horse hair or animal fur their nests. While the structures can be built from twigs, leaves, bark strips and other detritus birds like the comforts of fur and hair as well. Especially for eggs, the fur makes the interior of the nest soft and comfortable for future babies and the birds themselves. Interestingly birds also like caterpillar silk and spider webs to use as binding material for their nests. I did not know that before now. By the way, if you want birds in your yard planting nest material around your yard is a good way to attract them.
