Psalm 17 is a prayer by David to God for protection and deliverance from his enemies. David was trying to live a righteous life, but was surrounded by evil men who didn't fear God. He felt helpless without God's intervention, and described his enemies as dangerous and deadly like a lion.
In the psalm, David: Appeals to God: David asks God to heed his cry, reveal his steadfast love, and confront and subdue his enemies
Insists on his integrity: David proclaims that he is in the right and free from deceit or evil.

Psalm 17 uses figures of speech: David admits his vulnerability to his enemies, and uses figures of speech like "keep me as the apple of your eye" and "hide me in the shadow of your wings"

Comforts himself: David comforts himself with the hope of his future happiness
Some say that Psalm 17 was likely written when Saul was pursuing David in the wilderness.

I Pray the words of Psalm 17 will bless your life.
