Sling Pea - was offered between August 17, 2024 through August 24, 2024.

Sling Pea is a member of the Arma-Mint family.
Sling Pea costs 125 Sun. (-25 Sun at level 6.)
Sling Pea slings five (5) peas at the five (5) closest zombies to the house.
Each pea does 20 damage. (+5 damage per level.)
Each pea does 5 splash damage to all zombies in that tile. (+5 damage on levels 3, 5, 7, 9 and 10.)
When given plant food, Sling Pea's peas will stun the zombie for 0.5 seconds. (+0.5 seconds on levels 4 and 8.)

Commentary:
When you look at PvZ 2, you quickly realize that most levels are simply one strategy repeated in each of the lanes. Yes, there are a few plants which break that symmetry like Three-peater but for the most part, you are using the same strategy five (5) times.

What we have here is an asymmetric plant - a plant which can lead to some really strange strategies. So in this sense, Sling Pea is like Homing Thistle except that it targets the five closest zombies instead of the one closest.

Sling Pea suffers from the same problem as Homing Thistle does - the targeting of the closest zombies. This means a high health zombie could meander a significant way down the lawn before being targeted.

It also means that non-moving but dangerous zombies like Wizard, Octo or Fisherman zombies will do their annoying things long before being targeted.

Bottom Line:
Sling Pea can clear levels being the only offensive plant. That said, one will need to be more conscious and take walls, instant kill and spot removal plants for those zombies which would be more dangerous than usual.
