In October of 1945, just months after the end of World War 2, a group of top military psychiatrists and Truman administration officials met in the Department of the Interior building to chart the future of post-war American social policy. It was suggested that mass psychiatry and psychotherapy would have to be applied to the American public, morality in child upbringing would have to be eradicated as it was a cause of neuroses and anxiety, and the masses would have to be "re-educated" into "world values" and "world citizenship." The destruction of morality for the liberal order would have to imposed "violently, if necessary" and any nation or people who offered resistance would have to be mercilessly "annihilated" by atomic warfare.
