Is the USA the New Rome?
When America received its independence in 1776, they came to a point where they needed to decide on the type of government, so they had a Constitutional Convention in 1787.
What was the inspiration of this new government? It was the Roman Republic. This is significant for Bible Prophecy in understanding the End Times.
Why is Rome Important?
According to the Book of Daniel, (Daniel 9:24-26), The Seventy Weeks of Daniel, the nation which destroys Jerusalem and The Second Temple, would be the descendants of the "Prince to come", the Antichrist, the End Times world leader.
This future leader will allow the Jews to rebuild the Third Temple, only to desecrate it in the Abomination of Desolation in the last days. (Matthew 24:15).
The Roman Empire was in power at the First Coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, so the Roman Empire will be in power at the Second Coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Many people do not know the USA has taken the model of Rome and used it to establish the foundation of US Government.
Here are 6 Parallels with the Roman Republic that are built into the US Government.

1. We have a Senate, 2 individuals from each State., Rome had the first Senate, we even copied the word from the Roman Republic. The first senate had 100 members.

2. We have the House of Representatives, Rome had the Plebian Council, representing the common people, passing legislation.

3. We have a constitution which is central to our government, This was also copied from the Roman Republic. Words such as veto, filibusters, term limits and even the electoral college can be found in the Roman Constitution.

4. We have a president, Rome had Consuls, also known as the highest elected office in Rome, Sound familiar?

5. The center of our government is located at Capital Hill, this was another term copied from Rome, the center of Roman government was Capitoline Hill.

6. The American Eagle is the national symbol of the United States, Rome also had the Eagle as its symbol, it represented the god Jupiter. Our Eagle is almost an exact copy of the Roman Eagle.
