Freshwater turtles are reptiles with hard shells that protect them from predators. They spend most of their life in the water only coming on land to migrate between water bodies or to nest. They're also super cute and adorable.

Turtles are different Tortoises. Tortoises and turtles are both reptiles from the order of Testudines, but in different classification families. The major difference between the two is that tortoises dwell on land, while turtles live in the water some or nearly all of the time.
