Cessna 152 KBJC to KGNB
Rocky Mountain Metro to Granby Grand County
The controversy surrounding someone's attempt at this in a real C152 aircraft on July 4th intrigues me enough to simulate my own attempt since I happen to be at an ideal airport in my flight vlogging. At the time the density altitude for KGNB was around 2,400 feet higher than the airport's actual altitude, and for KBJC about 3,000. Thus it is a bit sketchy to get over that ridge in a C152 from KBJC, even with just one pilot's weight. That particular ridge low spot near the FOOOT waypoint is about 11,800 feet elevation. I could sense it wasn't going to get much higher, it's near the limit for that aircraft before it begins costing speed to climb (increasing AoA). I recommend only doing that flight in this aircraft when the density altitude is much more favorable.
