A sermon on 1. Corinthians 3:10-15 on making Jesus Christ the sure foundation of our life. People build their life on the foundation of education, church, community or other things. But when the fiery trials of life come, only the sure foundation of Jesus Christ and the salvation He offers will see us through to the victory.

This is a timeless message from a day service revival held in 1998 at the Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Shade, Tennessee. The preacher is Elder Charles Allen Gentry who was the pastor of North Carthage Baptist Church in Carthage, Tennessee.

A revival is "a meeting or series of meetings for the purpose of reawakening religious faith, often characterized by impassioned preaching and public testimony" according the the American Heritage Dictionary. Many times there have been day and night services during an annual week long revival, mostly in the summer months. Those meetings close with an invitation to lost sinners under conviction to seek the Lord for the salvation of their soul. Those who belong to the church practice the Christian handshake at the end of many meetings. When the Spirit of the Lord has his way, people get happy in the Lord, praise God aloud or shout for joy.

The church building shown in the video is the Green Valley Missionary Baptist Church located in the Elmwood community of Smith County, Tennessee, where the preacher was a long-time pastor.

This message was given to me on cassette tape many years ago.
