Thirteen: that's Africa’s GOLD medal tally at the end of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Eight of those came from athletics, and Kenya, which came top of the table for Golds, took four. Second placed is Algeria with two and, then Tunisia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda, Botswana and South Africa all had one gold medal each. Algerian boxer Imane Khelif was at the centre of a gender controversy at these Games, and has filed a criminal complaint for cyber-harassment in France.
