The King’s Trial! – Matthew 26:47-68

Pastor Rick Lancaster continues a series in the gospel of Matthew: The Savior-King and His Kingdom. In this message we see Jesus betrayed by Judas and then falsely accused in a mock trial before the high priest. With this text we begin to great injustice ever perpetrated by humans – the crucifixion of Christ Jesus.

Matthew’s gospel serves as a bridge between the Old and New Testaments. Matthew seeks to prove to the Jews that Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah. For those of us who are not Jews, Matthew helps us to see our Savior-King more clearly and through his gospel learn to live well in Christ’s kingdom today.
