In this video I explain why, for most normal people, a ham radio or GMRS radio like a Baofeng UV-5R (or any Baofeng or other brand ham or GMRS radio) is NOT an appropriate emergency communication device and why GMRS and Ham/amateur radio should not be relied on to get you medical help or rescue while hiking, camping, off roading, etc. and I explain why a satellite communicator or satellite GPS beacon or track like the Garmin InReach is a much better and more reliable choice for getting emergency help outdoors.
