Habeeb Khan, aged 49, from Sparkbrook appeared at Birmingham Crown Court charged with imitation firearm and threatening communication offences.
A man has denied threatening to 'blow away' the English Defence League with an AK-47 in a video viewed 1.4m times on social media. Habeeb Khan, aged 49, from Sparkbrook appeared at Birmingham Crown Court earlier this morning, Wednesday, August 14.
He formally denied a charge of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and an offence of sending a communication threatening death or serious harm. Prosecutor Aliya Rashid stated the main issue in the case was Khan's 'intent', adding both allegations 'arise as a result of a video circulated by the defendant wearing a balaclava and brandishing what appears to be an AK-47'.
It is alleged Khan said 'EDL I'm going to blow you away you m***** f******'. Ms Rashid stated the video uploaded on August 6 was viewed more than 1.4m times on social media and prompted numerous reactions.
