7. Precursors to the Great Awakening

According to many widely respected scholars of pre-revolutionary America, the central catalyst that galvanized a sense of American identity and prepared the way for the Revolutionary conflict was the remarkable movement known as the Great Awakening. There were certain well-known religious leaders who the paved the way for the Awakening in the 1720s and 1730s.
