Police have shared new footage of a weekend police standoff that ended with the shooting death of a 21-year-old man near Ohio State’s south campus.

The Columbus Division of Police shared body camera video from seven officers, detailing their encounter with Asante Miller. Police were first called to a home on Worthington Street near Ohio State’s campus on a reported burglary around 8 a.m. on Aug. 10.

About 10 minutes later, more body camera video shows several officers inside a home on West 8th Avenue where they believe Miller to be. As one officer is checking rooms, she sees a person inside one who begins firing. She and other officers respond back with gunfire before leaving the house. A police barricade was in place for nearly five hours.

They found Miller inside a home with a weapon. Miller is seen running away, and police chase him for about 10 minutes before seeing him a second time. Officers appear to fire at Miller before he runs off again.

Miller was later found dead from an apparent gunshot wound. It is unclear if he was shot by an officer. No Columbus police officers were injured.
