Deep Impact (1998) - Meteor hits Earth Scene

Funny enough, both Deep Impact and better known Armageddon (1998) came in the same Year, with basically the same plot. Coincidence? Hard to tell, but it was bloody obvious which one got bigger budget, stars and marketing.

Normally, I would assume that the creators of Deep Impact wanted to pull Asylum Production (movie buffs recognize) stunts where Z-list movie (almost no budget - your little Niece's pocket money CGI effects) tries to ride the wave of mega budget blockbuster by having nearly identical name and story-line (content) to make huge profit by basically scamming people.

Except, this movie has vastly different name to Armageddon that can't be confused, and the CGI's are decent if not quite on par with that of Armageddon.

Perhaps it was coincidence, or straight up competition of whom can do a better movie for the same script.

Granted, Armageddon for me wins almost in every aspect, but that being said, Deep Impact is worth watching and definitely not a scam! All considered, it is close call indeed - to the credit of the production team.

The finale where the Meteor (or the smaller part of course) finally hits the Earth is quite chilling, so I wanted to share it - You're welcome :D.

If you love "End of the World" type of movies where meteor is about to destroy Earth, 1998 was your lucky Year. You got two of the best one's to date, and some would argue, that this one was the better one indeed. If you have missed it, give it a go, you wont be disappointed.

PS.
I bet that no-one working on this movie would imagine that in mere three Years later, the Twin towers that withstood the mega-tsunami in the movie would be standing no more.

We miss you ever since. RIP to all innocent people lost that day.
