In the early colonial days, three 'waves' of Calvinist Christians migrated to the New World. English Puritans, Scot Presbyterians, and Scot-Irish Presbyterians formed the foundational population of the colonies during the first 100 years, and they continued to dominate the landscape in the years leading to the Revolutionary conflict.
