Julianne Hough has courageously spoken out about a deeply painful experience from her early years. The 36-year-old dancer and actress recently disclosed, for the first time, that she was sexually abused as a young child.

During the August 15 episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show, Hough shared that her first encounter with abuse occurred when she was just 4 years old. "It was by a neighbor in our cul-de-sac," she revealed. "I’ve never said that out loud in an interview before."

Hough went on to explain that she wasn't the only member of her family to endure similar trauma. Growing up in a strict Mormon environment, where the emphasis was on maintaining a perfect appearance, made the situation even more confusing and isolating. "It was a very challenging thing to come to terms with because nobody did anything," she said, reflecting on the lack of repercussions for what had happened.
