Bang Saen Beach หาดบางแสน is in Chonburi province, eastern Thailand. It is about 108 km (67 mi) east of Bangkok. It is a popular beach due to its proximity to Bangkok and Pattaya.

Bang Saen Beach is about 2.5 km (1.6 mi) long of beige colored sand.

Its name, Bang Saen, comes from folklore about two young Chonburi lovers, Saen แสน and Sam Muk สามมุก. The unrequited lovers threw themselves off a cliff and drowned together.

The sea at Bang Saen Beach is usually not clear. But from October to February of every year, the sea at Bang Saen Beach is as clear as the Maldives, a natural phenomenon.

Bang Saen Beach in Chonburi Province is the closest beach to Bangkok, which makes it very popluar due to its convince to reach If you’re not familiar with it, it’s because it’s not a beach that would make it on a “top ten beaches of Thailand” list, let alone top 100. The attraction is the location and beach activities.

In Thailand though it’s a popular beach destination, especially for Bangkokians who want a quick beach break. It’s a place to hang out with friends and eat seafood, with a water view and sea breeze to go with it. It’s a great place for Thais to spend a day or weekend away from the city.
