Personal Agency & "The Marginalized" | A Critical Compass Clip

Can the way we employ language affect our ability to view ourselves as active agents vs. passive participants in our own lives? Perhaps more importantly, is it possible that there might be a concerted effort from governments, institutions, and media corporations to frame important aspects of the personal agency we all inherently possess as being contingent on them or their particular interests?
