Here are some highlights from Tuesday night's planning and zoning public comments by those opposed to the City of Coeur d'Alene's proposal to rezone North Idaho College as a University District.

There is a significant level of confusion surrounding why this is happening. The city's planning director, Hilary Patterson, showcased a 2012 document entitled 'North Idaho College Final P.U.D. Submittal' claiming the college requested the change, adding to the intrigue.

Some members of the NIC Board of Trustees have been completely caught off guard and not informed about this possible change.

The planning and zoning board passed the proposal, and now the City of Coeur d'Alene City Council will vote on September 3, 2024, to enact the rezone of North Idaho College property into a University District.
