Case Closed: UFO Captured Plymouth Airport UK is Impulse 2 Solar Plane

The Solar Impulse is an experimental solar-powered aircraft developed in Switzerland by the company Solar Impulse. This single-seat monoplane, powered by photovoltaic cells, is capable of taking off under its own power and staying aloft for extended periods. The first prototype, known as Solar Impulse 1, made its maiden flight on December 3, 2009. Designed to stay aloft for up to 36 hours, it completed a full daytime solar cycle in July 2010, including nearly nine hours of nighttime flight on a 26-hour journey.

The lead pilots, André Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard, made successful solar flights from Switzerland to Spain and Morocco in 2012. In 2013, they completed a multi-stage flight across the United States. In 2014, a second, improved aircraft, Solar Impulse 2, was introduced, featuring more solar cells and more powerful motors. On March 9, 2015, Piccard and Borschberg began an ambitious voyage to circumnavigate the globe with Solar Impulse 2, departing from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The aircraft flew across Asia in June 2015 and completed the longest leg of its journey from Japan to Hawaii in July 2015. During this journey, the aircraft's batteries suffered thermal damage that required several months of repair.
