Did you know that the tuxedo was originally designed for women? That's right! In the late 19th century, it was Pierre Lorillard IV who introduced the tuxedo at a ball in Tuxedo Park, New York. However, the first tuxedos were actually for women, styled as evening dresses with tails, before men adopted the look for a more formal yet less restrictive alternative to the tailcoat.
