June 21, 2018: Anthony dies from severe head injuries and abuse.
Despite a history of documented abuse and numerous calls to child protective services, Anthony and his siblings were never permanently removed from the home. Court testimonies revealed that Anthony was subjected to horrific abuse, including beatings, starvation, and torture. During the last 5 days of his life he endured excessive abuse with a belt and a looped cord. He was dropped on his head repeatedly, hot sauce was poured on his face and mouth, he was whipped & burned. His mother and her boyfriend were found responsible for his death.

From 2013 until his death in 2018 reports of abuse were made to LA county department of children and family services that Anthony and his six half siblings were denied food and water, beaten, sexually abused, dangled upside down from a staircase, forced to crouch for hours while holding heavy objects, locked in small spaces with no access to the bathroom, forced to fight each other and forced to eat from the trash, and forced to kneel on rice. Anthony’s case highlights the failures of the child welfare system and the need for urgent reforms to prevent such tragedies in the future.
