Julianne Hough recently opened up about the real reason behind her breakup with Ryan Seacrest, which occurred in 2013 after three years of dating. The Dancing with the Stars host shared her thoughts during a candid conversation on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.

Julianne explained that part of the reason for the split was her desire to build a career independently of her high-profile relationship. “I needed to create something that was mine,” she said, noting that although her life seemed "completely set up," she hadn’t built it herself. She felt the need to achieve success on her own terms, rather than relying on the opportunities that came with dating a well-known figure like Ryan.
