Mexican prosecutors weigh treason charges after drug lord ‘El Mayo’ Zambada’s arrest in US

Mexican authorities are considering charges against those involved in the abduction of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada Garcia, co-founder of the Sinaloa Cartel, who was forcibly taken to the U.S. last month.

On July 25, U.S. officials announced Zambada Garcia’s capture in El Paso, Texas, alongside Joaquín Guzmán López, son of “El Chapo.”

Guzmán López allegedly abducted Zambada Garcia before turning himself in to U.S. authorities.

Mexico’s attorney general is investigating possible charges of treason, kidnapping, and other crimes against Guzmán López and others involved.

Zambada Garcia claims he was ambushed under the pretense of a meeting with Sinaloa politicians, Fox News has reported.
