Patagonia covers an area of 1 million square kilometers and is larger than 80% of countries on earth. There's no denying that Patagonia has a wide variety of unique landscapes in the region. With virgin forests, glaciers, snowcapped mountains, rivers, volcanoes and more, this remote region proves to be a true paradise for nature-lovers, adventure-seekers and photographers alike. Patagonia is a land where wild horses run free. In the region it is possible to see condors, foxes, guanacos, rheas and even pumas! The official language of Patagonia is Spanish but there are small pockets of indigenous communities within Patagonia who speak Mapuche. Despite its remote nature, this region of the world has a lot of history and both indigenous and cowboy culture. Political divisions. At a state level, Patagonia visually occupies an area within two countries: approximately 10% in Chile and approximately 90% in Argentina.
