There was a lot of dew from a very cold night at Birds Hill Provincial Park. Eventually we got the fly of the tent dried and everything packed. We left Birds Hill and biked north on Highway 59 to Grandbeach. There were not many places to rest along the way, so we took a break on the side the highway. There was a really bad stretch of highway with absolutely no shoulder. In all honesty this was the worst section of highway we ever biked! We arrived at Grand Beach about mid afternoon which allowed us to spend enough time at the beach and eat supper. There were a number of bears in the area and we had actually seen a mama bear and two cubs just before we entered our campground. We were given specific instructions on what to keep OUT of our tent. We hung all our food bag in a tree and set up our tent on the opposite side of the site. Grand Beach and Hecla Island Provincial Parks have one if the best camp sites in all of Manitoba (Turtle Mountain Provincial Park is really good too). The site is rather large which gives you a lot of privacy from a busy Beach! Enjoy!
