The Night the World Exploded is a 1957 science fiction disaster film. The film was written by Jack Natteford and Luci Ward and directed by Fred F. Sears with Sam Katzman the producer. Both Katzman and Sears were known for their B films. The film was released on a double bill with The Giant Claw.

Dr. Conway (William Leslie) has perfected a machine that predicts earthquakes, and has determined that one will strike California within 24 hours while a computer analysis determines that the entire world could explode within a little more than 28 days

While "The Night the World Exploded" is a very low-budget film with no-name actors, it is enjoyable. It also manages to make a ridiculous plot seem plausible--and that is no small feat. The film begins with a seismologist creating a new machine that would help them predict earthquakes.
