⚠️ The EVC is based on the Global Digital Health Certification Network (GDHCN) of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The EU and WHO jointly launched the GDHCN in June 2023 to promote a globally interoperable digital vaccine passport.

The GDHCN system is based on the EU's digital health certificate launched during the pandemic.

It will replace single-purpose systems such as the vaccine passport by bringing together different elements in one place.

In addition to the EVC, the GDHCN will also support “digital money” – such as a CBDC – and a social credit score, allowing governments to track individuals through one simple network.
